If you’re in receipt of unemployment benefits you must remember to “claim your weeks” every two weeks once your approved. The process can be done either online at www.fluidnow.com or via telephone at 1-800-204-2418. It is fairly simple and should only take a few minutes of your time. From the FluidNow home page please click on the “Job Seekers and Community Services” tab, then under ”Unemployment Compensation Benefits Center” click on “Manage Your Benefits Work Search, Claim Weeks You will then be given instructions on how to Submit work search contacts, claim your weeks, change payment information and much more through the FLUID system.
On top of claiming your weeks you must also show proof you are actually looking for a job and not just laying on the couch eating ding dongs all day. You will be required to submit proof that you applied or had conversations with 5 potential employers OR meet with a representative at your local One-Stop Career Center for reemployment services for each week you are out of work. Before you claim your weeks please note the following: “Florida Law provides that knowingly making a false statement, in order to obtain or increase unemployment benefits, is a third degree felony punishable by up to $5,000 in fines and five years in jail. It is also illegal to file a claim or claim benefit weeks for someone else. All cases determined to be fraudulent can be referred to the State Attorney’s office for prosecution. Each week of benefits fraudulently claimed is a separate offense for prosecution.” If you know someone who is or possible committing fraud report their ass to the DEO FRAUD HOTLINE at 800-342-9909.
HOT TIP: It is recommended that you have you benefit payments deposited on the FluidNow Wells Fargo-Wachovia debit card for faster pay outs. If you have this debit card, the money is normally deposited into your debit card account one business day after your payment has been processed. The card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted to include restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, Wal-Mart, pharmacies, doctors’ offices and even online. If you need cash from the card just visit any of the 1,800 in-network ATM locations across the state of Florida. The card is free and there is no monthly maintenance fee. Please note that this card is not a credit card and will not increase or decrease your credit rating. Once the funds on the card have been used up you will not be able to make any further purchases until more funds are added.
One other topic to mention. You MUST register for the Initial Skills Review before claiming your weeks at www.FluidNow.com Claim Your Weeks. This “skill review” is more like a grade school test that covers Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information. If you are unable to complete the review due to illiteracy or because you speak a language other than English or Spanish you might have a problem.
