Important Information on the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Program

Florida Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Program Tier 4 (IV) is Ending.

By federal law, the Department of Economic Opportunity is authorized to pay Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier IV Benefits only for as long as Florida remains triggered “on” an EUC Tier IV period. The availability of EUC Tier IV benefits to a state is determined by the state’s average total unemployment rate.
As of weekending June 16, 2012, Florida’s unemployment rate has declined below the level needed to extend the availability of EUC Tier IV. As a result of this decline, new entitlement to EUC Tier IV cannot be established unless an individual has exhausted all EUC Tier III benefits by the week ending July 7, 2012. Individuals receiving EUC Tier III benefits for any week after the week ending July 7, 2012 will not be able to receive Tier IV benefits. For more information about these benefits, please visit www.floridajobs.org or call DEO’s unemployment compensation hotline at (800) 204-2418.
